A tropical destination wedding in Phuket, Thailand – Claire & Kyle
Thailand wedding on the cliffs of Phuket
Claire originally got in touch with me to talk about some branding photography for her company, Everwood films….long story short that quickly jumped into me heading to Thailand with her and her guests for an epic tropical wedding on the other side of the world a few months later.
The day before travelling to Thailand I shot a wedding in Chester of all places, getting some serious sunburn and the next day I found myself in Doha, en route to Phuket. On arrival I met up with the couple where they greeted me with a massage already booked in – an hour later I felt like a new man.
On the day of the wedding ceremony, the weather in Phuket was overcast and very humid but that didn’t dampen the vibe of the day, everyone was in the spirit of the destination wedding with gift opening by the pool overlooking the most dramatic of views.
The bridal party got ready in the Pareza hotel, with an epic infinity swimming pool looking out onto the ocean, high above the cliffs of Phuket. Claires dream leading up to the wedding had been to walk down the aisle barefoot, a Thailand destination wedding was the perfect opportunity to fulfil her dream.
The wedding ceremony took place in another hotel on a clifftop, with the bride and groom under a canopy. We arrived and met with the registrar before the ceremony began. Meanwhile the Phuket weather was starting to turn. As Claire walked down the aisle with her dad, barefoot as she had planned, the wind began to stir, whipping her dress and vail into the air, creating a rather dramatic entrance and some fantastic photographs.
Claire + Kyle embraced on the clifftop after a really touching moment between Claire + her dad, the dramatic landscape behind them made way for what turned out to be a pretty intense but fleeting storm. Mid destination wedding ceremony the wind built up so much that it whipped, Claire, the brides veil out of her hair and off to sea! Following the ceremony queue a mad dash for all the guests to get inside as the rain arrived.
The wedding party got into the spirit of things straight away as they arrived inside, with the rain scuppering their plans for the wedding breakfast outside, however that didn’t tarnish the day at all. The entire wedding party kept going until the early hours, with a jam packed dance-floor and beeming faces throughout.
This Thailand wedding really was the epitome of a tropical wedding, the hotel was amazing with phenomenal views from every angle and the couple really embraced whatever the Thailand monsoon season could throw at them.
