Stopping Traffic for Love: Sally & Barney’s Queens Park Bandstand Wedding and Brass Band Parade
Saturday was a beautiful blur. I’m Paul, the Gingerbeard behind Gingerbeard Weddings, and Sally and Barney’s London wedding is one of those days I’m still smiling about.
Getting Married at the Queens Park Bandstand
Watching Sally and Barney marry at the Queens Park bandstand, surrounded by loved ones and plenty of cheering locals, was magic enough. A park bandstand is a gorgeous, unfussy setting for a ceremony, and it brings an energy you can’t get indoors. Passers-by become part of the day, and the whole thing feels open and joyful.
For documentary wedding photography, an outdoor ceremony like this is a joy. Natural light, real reactions and a crowd that’s genuinely rooting for the couple make for honest, emotional frames.

Marching Through London Behind a Live Brass Band
But marching through the London streets behind a live brass band, drinks in tow, stopping traffic with immaculate vibes? Unforgettable.
A wedding parade is the sort of idea that sounds ambitious and turns out to be the best part of the day. The music, the movement and the reactions from everyone on the street give a photographer endless material, and it turns a normal route into a celebration.

Confetti Cannons, Outdoor Speeches and an Elite Tier Tiramisu
Sally and Barney ended the perfect day with confetti cannons, gorgeous outdoor speeches and an elite tier tiramisu. A tiramisu in place of a traditional cake is exactly the kind of personal touch I love: it’s about what the couple actually want rather than what’s expected. 10/10 day, no notes.

Shooting a Street Wedding on Film and Digital
A day that moves like this is perfect for shooting both digital and analogue. Digital keeps me ready for every fast-moving moment, while film adds a timeless quality to the parade and the party. You can read more about how I work on my analogue page.
Planning an Unconventional London Wedding? Questions Couples Ask
Can you photograph a wedding parade through the streets?
Yes, and I love them. A parade is full of movement, music and unposed reactions, which suits a documentary approach perfectly.
Do you photograph outdoor and park weddings in London?
Absolutely. Outdoor ceremonies, from bandstands to gardens, give you beautiful natural light and a relaxed atmosphere. I shoot weddings across London, the UK, Europe and beyond.
Do you shoot analogue film as well as digital?
Yes. I shoot digital and analogue at every wedding I cover, so you get the best of both.
How much does your wedding photography cost?
Packages start from £3k. Have a look at my investment page for the full breakdown.
