Barcelona wedding at Almiral De La Font in Sitges – Lauren + Adam
Rustic Almiral De La Font wedding in Sitges, Barcelona
Sitges is roughly an hour outside of Barcelona, as you hug the coastline to what can be described as a wonderful little City, incredible food, LGBTQ friendly and surrounded by gorgeous vineyards. Which is where Lauren & Adam got married! A rustic Masia (Catalan Country Manor) in the hills just outside of the City. Such a unique villa with so much historic charm. It’s the perfect venue for a Barcelona destination wedding.
THE COUPLE
I already had a great relationship with Lauren & Adam before they booked me for their wedding in Sitges, just south of Barcelona. I first met them photographing their best friends wedding in Ibiza, a few years before. They were a great couple and lots of fun. They both absolutely love a party so Barcelona in a private Catalan Country Manor for their wedding was the perfect setting.
They wanted a venue set in the hills of Spain, surrounded by their close friends and family to party the night away. Almiral De La Font with it’s private vineyard, rustic setting and such a unique villa experience, made the perfect venue for this fun loving couple.
The wedding was really chilled and despite a bit of rain they partied into the night, even jumping in the pool in their wedding dress/suit the day after the wedding – So wild!! (And an excellent hangover cure I’m told).
THE VENUE
Almiral De La Font is set in the hills of the Garraf area of Sitges, surrounded by phenomenal wine groves. A beautiful fortified Masia (Catalan Manor House) which was used for winemaking and farming before being renovated into the beautiful Spanish wedding venue it Is today.
I stayed on the beach near Sitges, a gorgeous little seaside city that has tons of history and a busy nightlife. I explored the streets during the day and met Lauren and Adam for a pre-wedding photoshoot the day before the wedding, this helped me get to know the couple and help them get a feel for what its like to be in-front of the camera on their wedding day.
The wedding party stayed in the ME hotel in Sitges, with a glorious view of the beach and a stones throw from the nightlife.
THE DAY
On the day of the ceremony in Sitges the weather was outstanding, the sea was perfectly still and the sun was shining brightly with a clear blue sky – the perfect shooting conditions for a wedding photographer.
The groom got ready for the wedding at the ME hotel in Sitges, most of the party were lolling around the pool with beers – the party had already began for sure. I took the groomsmen and groom down the beach for a pre-ceremony shoot, resulting in sand and water everywhere.
I then headed to the bridal prep in a villa nearby, capturing all the moments with the family. The DJ and I then meandered up to the wedding venue through the vineyards, arriving in Almiral De La Font the ceremony room and outdoor areas were absolutely stunning. There was a moment where the father of the bride was waving to us from his balcony, whilst we all blindly waved back…until we realised he had been stuck there locked on his balcony for 40 minutes! Highly entertaining although a touch stressful for him.
Following the wedding ceremony I lined up the wedding guests down the most fantastic narrow lane, with bucketfuls of confetti the guest were prepped for the most incredible confetti shot….almost scuppered by my nearly stacking it on the steeper than it looked slope!
After capturing the most epic of confetti shots the heavens opened and the rain began, soaking everything for the outside wedding breakfast and putting a bit of a delay on things. The rain eventually held off long enough for the meals to be eaten outside before the heavens opened again and the entire party was forced inside.
Despite the rain, it forced everyone inside to enjoy really intimate speeches with makeshift seating arrangements, followed by the first dance. The rain scuppered the evening portraits as the sun had gone by the time there was a chance to head out, but it certainly did not stop the party. The only description I can give you to this party was that it was wild and accompanied by a Saxophonist and bongo player – a truly memorable party that went on until the early hours, with a packed dance-floor thanks to the DJ.
SUMMARY
As a destination wedding photographer Sitges is a brilliant location for you wedding, its brilliant for your guests as the flights are easily accessible into Barcelona and the options for venues are broad. Lauren and Adams wedding was the perfect mix of friends on holiday and serious ibiza rave vibes – I had as much fun as their friends and family. Almiral De La Font was a fantastic venue, the perfect mix of romance and rustic whilst being far enough out in the hills to allow for a booming party into the night.
