Laura & Mark
A rustic Eden barn wedding in late March just after the infamous ‘Beast from the East’ the weather was incredible and the barn had recently been renovated setting the perfect backdrop for an early Spring Wedding.
Lake District Wedding Venue
Laura and Mark had become fast friends leading up to the wedding with shared interests (mostly extremely nerdy) with Mark it was Comics, Games, Music and Films mostly. Laura had a creative spark and has since gone on to start her own photography business which is awesome.
The venue did not disappoint. The barn has been transformed with the ceremony room adorned with a wall of fairy lights giving the room a really rustic feel.
Alternative Cinematic Portraits
We made good use of the venue for portraits. The hangar doors made for the perfect backdrop for practising the first dance and the light was insane!! It was such a fun day and Laura and Mark were brilliant. We even finished the night at Golden Hour being chased by sheep through field.
Here’s what they had to say.
We met at work many years ago when we were newly out of law school. It wasn’t a magical love at first sight story, and it would be fair to say Mark didn’t particularly warm to me at first! But after a few weeks, an awkward coffee machine conversation turned into an excitable chat about music (sparked by Bombay Bicycle Club). Out of nowhere we became best friends. Two years later, it became very obvious there was more there. Three years later we got engaged and married the year after. BOOM!
Mark took me on a surprise day trip to Cumbria. We went on a little adventure to some historical ruins then on a poetry walk through the woods. Part way along, we stopped for a break and Mark announced he had prepared a little poem himself… Several laughs and tears later, Mark asked me to be his wife! We then celebrated with champagne afternoon tea which Mark had booked at a beautiful castle.

Annette & Oliver
Holmes Mill is a fantastic space and one of my favourite North West Wedding venues. So when Annette and Oliver got in touch regarding their wedding reception at Holmes Mill I was excited! Especially with this being their second wedding as they had just tied the knot in the Summer in California.
Cool Portraits in The Ribble Valley
Oliver has a massive ginger beard so obviously we become instant friends and Annette was so creative I knew this was a perfect match.
They both got ready together before we drove out into the wilds of Clitheroe for portraits. It was so much fun and they were up for anything! It was polar opposite to Cali but I think thats what made it.
On our return to Holmes Mill there was time for a quick wardrobe change before a couple of cool portraits around The Bistro, Engine Room and back into the main room for the wedding reception at Holmes Mill.
Annette and Oliver were kind enough to share some words with me as well. Thanks for believing in my creative weirdness you guys!!
Alternative Wedding Photography
We met in California over 10 years ago, while Oliver was on a trip with some friends. We stayed friends over the years. Then about 6 years ago Annette and her friend Tiffany came over to England for a girls trip. Oliver played the amazing host. We reconnected one night and a few Guinness’s later. We have been on so many adventures since then.
I flew us out to Miami, midway between California and Lancashire. We hired a car and drove to the Florida Keys and South Beach Miami. We saw The Chainsmokers play. I had a couple of locations in mind and eventually settled on a quiet sunset at Fort Zachary Taylor on the tip of Key West, we were laying on the rocks and I knelt on one next to Annette, strangely she took a selfie of us a moment before I asked her.
